Hear lengendary artist Elton John sing 'Your Song' at Civic Center

Photo courtesy of eltonjohn.com Elton John was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. He has won 5 Grammy Awards and has the top selling single of all-time, "Candle in the Wind."
Elton John and his band will perform live at the Pensacola Civic Center Friday, March 14. The concert is part of the 2008 Tour: Rocket Man - Number Ones.

John will play his greatest hits and more recent songs from his most recent album, Rocket Man - Number Ones. Elton John has sold more than 200 million records and continues to add innovative work to his personal repertoire of 29 consecutive Top 40 hits, 35 gold and 25 platinum albums.

Rocket Man - Number Ones, released in March 2007, debuted in the top 10 and features newly compiled and digitally mastered greatest hits spanning the first three decades of the singer songwriter's career.

Reserved tickets for Elton John will be available at the Pensacola Civic Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Order online at LiveNation.com, Ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 850-434-7444. Ticket prices are $90, $70 and $50. Eight ticket limit per customer.

Country Fest coming

Country music legend Randy Travis headlines a day of family entertainment as Your Country 102.7 WXBM presents "Country Fest 2008" at Five Flags Speedway - Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Other artists include Joe Nichols, Phil Stacey, Lady Antebellum and The Sawmill Band.

Fabio Bidini to perform with Symphony

The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra (PSO), led by Music Director Peter Rubardt will perform music by legendary composers Kodaly, Grieg and Dvorak on Saturday, March 1 at 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 500 Palafox. Guest artist, Fabio Bidini, will join the orchestra to perform the popular Grieg Piano Concerto for this one night.

Bidini has performed as a guest soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras including The London Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony Orchestra. He has been awarded first prize in eleven of Italy's most prestigious national piano competitions.

There will be a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m., which is free for all ticket holders.

Manheim Steamroller at Civic Center

The Fresh Aire Music of Mannheim Steamroller features a cast of the most talented and versatile musicians touring the world. The core of the group is a consortium of musicians, technicians and engineers using state-of-the-art equipment to create Mannheim Steamroller's signature sound. All the members have been individually selected by composer Chip Davis.

Their 43-city tour features an appearance at the Pensacola Civic Center on Sunday, March 9 at 7 p.m.

Tickets, ranging from $30 to $43, can be purchased at the Pensacola Civic Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster Charge by Phone or at ticketmaster.com. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more by calling 850-432- 0800 ext. 223.

UWF Fine and Performing Arts Upcoming Concerts

The University of West Florida Center for Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) and Department of Music will present several concerts in March and April.

The schedule for the chamber music concerts will kick off March 5, with "Baroque Rocks," showcasing well known pieces by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Scarlatti and Albinoni. The chamber music group will be joined by a percussion ensemble, showing new ways of performing and enjoying Baroque music.

The final concert, "Romancing Notes," will be held April 2. and will feature works of Delibes, Beethoven, Franck, Chopin, Debussy and Mozart. The famous pieces will be performed by vocalists, instrumental duos, trios, chamber and percussion ensembles. All concerts will be held at noon at old Christ Church in downtown Pensacola.
