Sidelines
lots of food and lots of TV sports
BY JASON THOMPSON Splash!

Jason Thompson/Splash! The Chicken rollup, served with French fries, is one of the new favorites, and yet the chicken wings remain wildly popular at Sidelines Restaurant on Pensacola Beach.
In a way, Sidelines reminds me of Cheers. You remember - where everybody knows your name...

For great food and all the best sports action, there is no place better that Sidelines, located on Pensacola Beach.

Brothers Jim and Scott Amberson offer customers daily specials, as well as lunch specials, during the week as low as $5. I'm a big fan of the chicken and steak roll ups and the buffalo fingers.

The specials continue into the evening. Mondays are Cajun Nites, with blackened ribeyes or fish dinners. Tuesdays are Surf and Turf nights, featuring steak, shrimp - or both - if you're really hungry.

Wednesdays are Mexican Madness, featuring their Superdome Nachos, with Thursdays being their well renowned Wing Night. The wings range from Honey BBQ and Teriyaki (my favorite), to Hot, Hail Mary or Hurt Me! styles.

Fridays feature Cold Water White Fish, with two side items for $7.95. Sidelines also offers drink specials on Coors, Foster's and Coronas, as well as their famous Sidelines Blitz drink.

Sidelines is also 'kid friendly' - their Little Leaguer menu includes a grilled cheese, hot dog, corn dog, hamburger, chicken tender or fish nuggets, with a Rice Krispy treat, served in a souvenir beach pail.

Thompson, the author, is Sports Editor at Gulf Breeze News.
Sidelines also has more than 30 TVs tuned in to any and every sports event imaginable. For the baseball fan, Sidelines will be offering the MLB Extra Innings package, starting this year. They also have the NFL, college football and basketball, hockey and MLS packages as well.

So whether you're a Norm or a Cliff Claven type (like your humble correspondent), or a snowbird, tourist or a spring breaker, Sidelines is the place for you. Their phone number is 934-3660.
