Heritage you can hold
Camp Walton Craft Days are May 3

"Camp Walton Heritage Craft Days" gives kids a chance to have fun and learn with exciting hands-on activities that highlight the people, places and events that form our American heritage.
Participants will make a take-home gift for Mom in honor of her day.

The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center offers the next installment in their continuing community education program entitled "Camp Walton Heritage Craft Days." This event will take place on Saturday, May 3, at the Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum on Miracle Strip Parkway. Activities will be ongoing from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

The theme for this month is May is Majestic! Participants will make a take-home gift for Mom in honor of her day. They will also learn about Armed Forces Day, May Day and Memorial Day. Education staff will lead children in hands-on activities that highlight the people, places, and events that are part of the exciting history of the American year.

Participants can expect lots of fun with period games, learning activity handouts and take-home crafts from the era of the schoolhouse. Children in the second through fifth grades will be especially pleased by the activities, but all are welcome. Advance registration is requested. A small fee of $2.50 per child will be charged to cover supplies. Museum admission is not charged when attending the craft program only. Please call Gail Meyer at 833-9595 for more information, dates or to register.

Future craft days will usually fall on the first Saturday of each month and are posted on Heritage Park and Cultural Center's event calendar on the City website, www.fwb.org/museum.

The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center is a community outreach division of the City and is committed to providing area historical educational programming.
