5 things 2 Do: Mothers Day
She's Simply MOM!
By Karen Murphy Splash! Magazine

Maxine, my mom, lives in Michigan. Here she is, enjoying Pensacola Beach on her last visit on Spring Break 2004.
What to do for your Mother on Mothers Day if she's not into a Day at the Spa or a fun filled afternoon fighting the crowds at the mall? Here are 5 things that I would do if I were fortunate enough to have my mother with me every Mothers Day:

Fix her breakfast at home, and I don't mean a bowl of cereal, I mean a full course breakfast including biscuits and gravy.

I'd wash her hair, slow and leisurely, blow it dry and curl it pretty. Nothing feels better than a good old fashion hair washing by someone other than yourself. Take this time to talk about anything and everything... Imagine what you can learn from your mother if you just took the time to learn what it's like to be her and vice versa.

Take a walk with her if she's able

Put together a picnic lunch and take her to the beach. Rent a couple of beach chairs and an umbrella and just enjoy the scenery and take a dip in the Gulf. I'm trying to remember the last time I put on a swimming suit... let alone my mother. If she doesn't have one, we can giggle and squeeze into my old ones. Who cares what we look like, we are together having fun!

I'd touch her hand, give her a hug, and tell her that I love her while the two of us grumpy old, simple girls watch the sun set.
