Enjoy more time on your dime!
Northwest Florida offers numerous cost-friendly activities during all times of the year. May, however, presents a certain exciting adventure just waiting to eatup your time, but not your money.
May is national bike month. That presents vacationers and locals with exciting adventure opportunities, and at a price that's easy on the pocketbook. Here is a list of a few biking outings in the area during the month of May that will give you the opportunity to get out and enjoy the local scenery.
Join Gulf Breeze Mayor Lane Gilchrist for the fifth annual "Ride Your Bike to Work Day," Friday, May 9 from 8 to approximately 9 a.m.
The ride will include members of the Gulf Breeze Police Department and will commence at the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center, terminating at the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce office on Highway 98 where refreshments and prizes will be awarded. Also, on Saturday, May 3, everyone is invited to participate in the 5th Annual Twilight Bike Ride at the Blackwater Heritage Trail Visitors Center, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Participants are asked to come promptly at 6 p.m. for a bicycle safety check, then the ride will begin at the Visitors Center on Alabama Street. Free safety gear will be distributed while supplies last. Those under age 16 must wear a bicycle helmet, as law requires.

The May Day Family Bike Ride is Saturday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a free, family-oriented bicycle ride planned in support of May as National Bicycle Month. Free bike helmets, t-shirts and more will be provided while supplies last. The ride departs from the South Walton Courthouse Annex in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
Another May Day Family Bike Ride will take place on Monday, May 26 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Morgan Sports Complex, located in Destin, Fla.
This is a free family-oriented bicycling event in support of May as National Bicycle Month. Free bike helmets, tshirts, refreshments and other safety gear will be provided.
