Military Appreciation Pensacola Beach businesses announce events, discounts for Military Appreciation Month
May is Military Appreciation Month, and Pensacola Beach businesses are abuzz with activities and events to honor our servicemen and women. Businesses will offer discounts to active and retired military during May to show their appreciation for our brave heroes. Discounts include 10- 20 percent off purchases, free drinks and food, free giveaways and two-for-one deals.
Special military events during the month of May include:
· Military Appreciation Month Kick Off
7 p.m.- 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at the Gulfside Pavilion. Bands on the Beach kicks off the summer concert season with a jazzy performance by the Navy Band New Orleans and the unveiling of the United States Coast Guard Pelican.
· Guitar Hero Tournament & Pool Tournament
All day. Saturday, May 10. Rock out for prizes in the Guitar Hero tournament or shoot to win in the pool tournament at Tiki Island Golf and Games. Prizes will be awarded to winners.
· Military Fishing Day
7 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Pensacola Beach Marina. Select military anglers leave for a fishing trip on The Entertainer at 7 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend the welcoming party at 2 p.m. at the Pensacola Beach Marina. Bring your American flag to wave. Music by Boogie, Inc. Anglers will cook fish and have a post fishing trip picnic and awards ceremony.
· Hooter's Bikini Contest Regional Finals
3 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Hooter's on the Boardwalk. Two contestants will be chosen to represent this region in the Hooter's International Swimsuit Pageant in Miami later this year.
· Flounder's Volleyball Tournament Preliminaries
10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Flounder's beach volleyball court. Twenty to 30 four-person military teams will compete in a bracket-style tournament for a chance to advance to Sunday's competition. Complimentary food and beverage for active duty military.
· Flounder's Volleyball Tournament Finals.
10 a.m. - Til. Sunday, May 18 at Flounder's beach volleyball court. Winners from Saturday's competition will advance to play Sunday for a chance to win cash prizes.
· Dance Dance Revolution Tournament
All day. Thursday- Saturday, May 29-31 at Tiki Island Golf and Games. Put on your dancing shoes and channel your inner Flashdance for a chance to win cash prizes.
