Evenings in Olde Seville Square returns for an exciting season
Pensacola's celebrated free outdoor concert series, Evenings in Olde Seville Square, returns for its 21st season of elegant evenings of music under the stars.
The 2008 series features 14 concerts, satisfying musical tastes from big band to jazz to reggae each Thursday from 7-9 p.m., May 15-August 14 in historic Seville Square in downtown Pensacola. August 21 is reserved for rescheduling of a concert that is canceled due to rain or other weather conditions.
Evenings kicks off with the popular McGuire's Bagpipe Band marching into Olde Seville Square at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15. The Marine Force Reserve Band follows with their repertoire of traditional marches, patriotic music and even some Dixieland jazz from New Orleans.
The concert season continues May 22 with John Wooton & KAISO! Caribbean Band, famous for their steel drums and native instruments. The band will delight the crowd with a variety of styles including calypso, soca, jazz, salsa, samba, reggae and funk, filling the air with island rhythms.
Tim Jackson's Mr. Big takes the stage May 29 with a crowd-pleasing mix of New Orleans Jazz, American pop, beach music and country.
Other favorites returning this season include Clark & Company on June 19 and The Reunion Band on July 3. Concertgoers will be a part of a history on July 10 when Spain's state band joins our own Pensacola Civic Band for an evening commemorating Pensacola's 450th birthday.
