CRITIC'S CORNER
Summer movies are expected to be HOT

Christian Bales stars in "The Dark Knight," the sequel to "Batman Begins." The film marks the last performance of late actor Heath Ledger.
This has been a fun, exciting summer for movies so far, and judging by the crop of sequels and remakes we have lined up for the second half, we're in for a great ride for the next two months.

Here's what's in store:

Hellboy II: The Golden Army - Ron Perlman reprises his role as the big, red demon who fights the forces of darkness. With director Guillermo del Toro at the helm, this promises to be one fun summer ride. (July 11)

The Dark Knight - The most anticipated movie of the season. This sequel to "Batman Begins" stars Heath Ledger in his penultimate performance, as the psychotic supervillain Joker. (July 18)

The X-Files: I Want To Believe - Holy Moly! Mulder and Scully return to solve another case that may or may not involve aliens, the government and ... oh, I don't know, let's say elves. The plot of the film has been kept secret, so we'll have wait and watch the movie to find out. (July 25)

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - The second Brendan Fraser flick of the summer is another installment of the popular series. This time, Rick O'Connell (Fraser) has to fight the resurrected Han Emperor. (Aug. 1)

Tropic Thunder - Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. star in this whacked-out comedy about a group of actors cast in the most expensive war movie ever who become separated from the production crew and are forced to become actual fighting men. Think of it as an edgier "Three Amigos." (Aug. 15)

Babylon A.D. - Vin Diesel stars in this sci-fi thriller about a mercenary who is transporting a woman who is the host for a creature that is wanted by a cult plotting to create a genetically modified messiah. (Aug. 29)
