Ballet Pensacola presents 'Reaching Beyond'

BALLET PENSACOLA REACHING BEYOND

Ballet Pensacola takes the stage at the Pensacola Cultural Center for Reaching Beyond, a mixed-repertory evening of dance works that features something for everyone.

Performances are: Friday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m and Saturday, March 14 at 7:30pm.

Several works from various choreographers will be presented including:

Sins Of Our Elders, choreographed by Ballet Mistress, Christine Duhon, is a searing, contemporary commentary on youth, relationships and undue influence. Her Pococurante is a neo-classic ballet built on the haunting strains of Ravel's Bolero, and audience favorite Noelle Paige will again appear in Ms. Duhon's Upwardly Mobile. Also from Ms. Duhon, Seasons On A Dime received its premiere in Hartford, CT in 2002 and has been an audience favorite ever since.

Soaring music, visionary choreography, and a storyteller's heart make for a work that consistently tugs at the hearts of the audience.

Emerging choreographer Brittany Rappisi is mounting her second work for Ballet Pensacola. After her success in Outrageous Dance Project during the fall season, Artistic Director Richard Steinert commissioned a new work from this young Pensacola resident and UWF student. Fresh and vibrant, her style is a perfect complement to the talents of the dancers, showing a distinctly modern style.

Richard Steinert's Balcony Pas de Deux from Romeo and Juliet represents the classical side of the evening. The early passion of love expressed below the balcony is exquisitely represented in new choreography to an ageless tale of inescapable love, betrayal and broken dreams. Steinert is also premiering Anatomy of Error, his newest work. Stark and uncompromising, its commentary on social unrest, outrage and the struggle toward unification is a perfect venue for the diverse talents and strong artistic voices of the dancers the comprise Ballet Pensacola today.
