"Dueling Brushes" opened with a reception on July 24 and continues through Sept. 2.

The show features two artist, Debbie Andress and Pat O'Neal, in a face-off show which will feature diametrically opposed styles and techniques.

Andress has been a resident of Northwest Florida for most of her life. She works in a variety of media, but her main concentration is in Mixed Media, combining pen and ink with acrylics.

Her favorite subjects are orchids and exotic birds. Deborah serves on the Board of Trustees of Quayside Visual Arts Association, the non-profit branch of Pensacola Artists, Inc. which aids students of the visual arts in their educational pursuits.

O'Neal lives in Pensacola, Florida and her art can be seen at the Quayside Gallery, the Pink Picasso Gallery. She has been juried in numerous shows at the Artel Gallery were her "Bonfire Dance" won first place in June of 2008.

In 2002 she began to explore the traditional medium of watercolor. In 2003, the Tate Gallery of the University of Georgia purchased four of her watercolors for their permanent art gallery. Her art is described as compelling, stimulating and unforgettable.

Artel Gallery: "Art Undergound"

In celebration of Pensacola's 450th Anniversary, Artel's "Art Underground" exhibit opened on July 21. I continues through August 28.

Artifacts from centuries-old shipwrecks, unearthed pottery, botanical and architectural remains currently displayed at UWF's Archeology Institute are valuable sources of inspiration. Blue Morning Gallery: "Art: Engaging the Heart and Soul"

Blue Morning Gallery will opened "Art: Engaging the Heart and Soul" on July 26. It continues through Sept. 5.

Featured artist will be: David Leonard, pottery; Morris Eaddy, paintings; Gordon Levi, photography and Donna Freckmann, Collage/paintings and jewelry.
