Officials with the Florida Division of Forestry announce that Blackwater River State Forest Recreation Guides are now available for $7.00 at the following locations on the state forest: State Forest Headquarters, located at 11650 Munson Hwy., and Coldwater Recreation Area, located at 8049 Horse Shoe Loop. Additionally, the guides are also available in Munson at Ruth's store; in Harold at Blackwater Canoe Rental; and in Milton at Adventures Unlimited, Hall's Hardware, Peaden's Hair Works, and Truly Spokin' Bicycle Shop.

According to David Creamer, Recreation Administrator, "This longawaited map features twosided, full-color print and displays all roads within the State Forest on which it is legal to drive with the coordinating road names and numbers. It also shows the recreation areas, streams, hiking, biking, and horse trails, important bridges and other landmarks, virtually all the information that people have asked for, plus information about plants and animals and how the State Forest is managed."

The map is published by Friends of Florida State Forests, a non-profit direct support organization with the mission to raise funds used directly for the benefit of state forests in Florida. Funds generated by the sale of the Blackwater Recreation Guide will go to a special account, for use by the Blackwater Forestry Center.

Small maps showing main forest roads will continue to be available without cost at State Forest Headquarters in Munson. For more information, contact Blackwater Forestry Center at (850) 957-6140.
