Come celebrate Scoop's birthday with Splash! Magazine

      On Friday, August 21, Pensacola Pelicans mascot, Scoop, invites all local mascots to Pelican Park to help celebrate the mascots' birthday. All Pelicans fans, staff and those just wishing to celebrate the winged mascot's special day are encouraged to dress as their favorite character or superhero to join in the fun.

Visit your national parks for free on August 15-16!
      Fort Pickens, Opal Beach and other entities in the National Park Service are fee-free on August 15 and 16, making it a perfect time to visit some of America's treasures. Fort Pickens is accessible by road for the first time since Hurricane Ivan roared ashore on September 16, 2004.

Local art gallery exhibits continue through August
      Quayside Art Gallery: "Dueling Brushes" "Dueling Brushes" opened with a reception on July 24 and continues through Sept. 2. The show features two artist, Debbie Andress and Pat O'Neal, in a face-off show which will feature diametrically opposed styles and techniques.

Art Praha explores life by the sea!
      Art Praha, Pensacola's exclusive European Art Gallery, is currently showing a collection of art works titled "Exploring Life by Sea!" from Russian watercolor master artist Konstantyn Sylin and glass artist Jill Elkins from Sweden.

Officers' Club hosts art show, wine tasting
      Clara's Angels, an American Red Cross volunteer group made up of local military wives, will host an Art Show and Wine Tasting event at the Pensacola Naval Air Station Officers' Club on Saturday, August 15. "We are excited to be partnering with the local Red Cross for this year's event," said Karin Feagles, the event coordinator.

Pensacola recognizes 450th birthday with three-day celebration
      Pensacola has been in the midst of a 450-day celebration, including a kick-off party in May 2008, a visit from the king and queen of Spain, tours of the Elcano tall ship, Revolutionary War battle reenactments, and visits from renowned artists and Spanish winemakers.
