Six New Merchants Join the Fun

T he Arts Council of Northwest Florida will present a sneak preview of the new Escambia County Arts and Culture Information Center on the final 2009 Gallery Night, November 20 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Pensacola. Located on the corner of Palafox and Government Streets, the new Arts and Culture Information Center is located in the old Escambia County Courthouse and has just undergone a $1.12 million restoration and renovation. Along with more than forty-five merchant participants in three downtown districts, Gallery Night is Pensacola's premiere family event. Stroll through an eclectic array of merchants, galleries and cafes; enjoy the diverse and exceptional talent of painters, photographers, sculptors, musicians, and more.

The Arts and Culture Information Center will be a resource center for artists and arts organizations; it will be a resource center for tourists, economic development and citizens of Escambia County with a broad range of information on cultural activities all year long. Additionally it will host a variety of exhibits in the center gallery from member organizations to community partners such as the University of West Florida and Pensacola Junior College.

Gallery Night's merchant participants and sponsors will provide trolley services for easy access to any of the three downtown districts, Belmont, Palafox and Historic Pensacola. Two trolleys will make stops at centralized locations throughout the three districts. Listen for the ding-ding of the trolley and hop on.

Gallery Night is produced by The Arts Council of Northwest Florida; sponsored by Cat Country, 98.7; 1620 News Radio; The Downtown Crowd; and Sandy Sansing BMW.

And be sure to check out the Junior League's Marketbasket at Civic Center. A long-time favorite for Pensacola's holiday shoppers, admission to Marketbasket 2009 is $7 and will close at 8 p.m.

Art Praha Galerie Featuring a limited collection from renowned glass sculptor Pavel. Born in Czechoslovakia, Pavel created the glass sculptures for Javier Perez's art project "Levitas" which is now in the permanent collection of the Guggenheim© museum.

Artel Gallery 21st annual Cinco Banderas exhibition is temporarily on display. The juror for this exhibit, Sonya Davis, is the Executive Director of the Pensacola Museum of Art.

Belmont Arts and Cultural Center Fundraising event by Belmont's own Pottery Guild. Come in and purchase one of the Guild's hand-thrown, hand-glazed souvenir bowls and the Belmont will fill it with their famous seafood gumbo.
