March is Florida Archaeology Month
Florida Archaeology Month is an annual statewide event which encourages Floridians and visitors to learn more about the archaeology and history of the state, and to preserve the important part of Florida’s rich cultural heritage with special events.
On March 9 at 7 p.m., the Pensacola Archaeology Society’s Monthly Meeting and Lecture, ‘Mission San Luis,’ will take place in the Bowden Building, 120 E. Church, St.
On March 13, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Arcadia Mill in Milton will have an Open House – it’s the largest 19th-century water-powered industrial complex in Northwest Florida. Guided tours, demonstrations, reenactors, and hands-on activities will be available.
On March 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., enjoy Florida Archaeology Month with a celebration event at the FPAN Coordinating Center at 207 East Main Street in Pensacola. “Destination Archae-ology,” will feature live demonstrations, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, artifact identification, local heritage organization displays, rough sorting artifacts, and much more.
On March 23 at 7 p.m., the Graduate Student Lecture Series will be held in the Bowden Building at 120 East Church Street in Pensacola.
