PMA art history public lecture series
The Pensacola Museum of Art (PMA) sponsors a series of lectures in art history that began on March 18. The series, taught by local art historians and guest lecturers, examines historical and cultural issues from selected art historical time periods in conjunction with slide presentations of related art works.
The PMA lecture series, now open to the public, was previously reserved exclusively for members of the Museum’s docent (tour guide) program.
On April 15 the program features “The Interwart Years of European Art.” The lecture is given by Duncan Stewart, University of West Florida Associate Professor Emeritus in Art history.
Covering a broad range of topics, the lectures will be presented monthly on the third Thursday from 6-7 p.m. in the Museum Assembly Room. Admission is free. Please RSVP to (850) 432-6247.
Upcoming lectures include “Early 20th Century American Art” on May 20, given by John Markowitz, UWF Lecturer in Art History. On June 17, the program is “Introduction to Impressionism" by Dr. Barbara Larson, UWF Associate Professor in Art History
