June fishing tournaments in NW Florida
To anglers around the Southeast, June is known as “fishing tournament” month, and this year’s series of tournaments will start off with a bang, despite the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf. Splash highlights a few of the best:
Hargreaves Fishing Tournament: June 17-20 at Grand Lagoon Yacht Club, 10653 Gulf Beach Hwy, Pensacola. Captain’s Meeting on Thursday with fishing on Friday and Saturday. The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic: June 22-27 at Baytowne Marina in Sandestin. This $300,000 (based on 75 boats) World Billfish Seriessanctioned event is based on 75 boats and gives serious angling teams their shot at winning a huge pay-off.
