Local star burning hot to be next American Idol

Pensacola native Brooke Woods- Smith holds many titles. The 28- year old singer has to balance her blossoming career with many other obligations – each calling for her time, attention and charming presence. Woods-Smith has been performing since the age of two, inspired by her faith…and her mother.

"She's a great singer still, and of course, my faith," Woods- Smith said. Woods-Smith is currently a lead vocalist in the Chumuckla Farmer's Opry every Friday and Saturday evening, and can be heard every Sunday morning at 'The Harbor' in Holley.

Woods-Smith is pursuing a new title, to compliment the impressive register she currently holds. That shiny new title happens to be one of the most feverishly sought after by performers nationwide – THE
next American Idol.
Brooke-Woods Smith, a Pensacola native, is competing for a spot on American Idol.
Woods-Smith, who personifies what an idol should be, is auditioning this month for an invitation to perform on the show.
"I'm very excited, and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity," she said.
Though American Idol is one of the best opportunities an aspiring singer could hope for, Woods-Smith aspires to be a successful mom to her nearly-two-yearold daughter Presley first and foremost.
Being a wonderful mom to Presley is number one with me, and making all of her dreams possible," the proud mom beamed. "She is the 'light' of my life."
Woods-Smith is also an accomplished professional – currently employed by Resort Realty, a leader in the local real estate market.
When she's not singing, working or taking care of mommy duties, Woods-Smith is a student. She currently studies marketing and business at Pensacola State College.
A graduate of Pensacola Christian Academy, she has won team talent contests, took first place in the Fine Arts Festival and was voted Best Female Vocalist of the year.
Larry and Sharon Woods are the proud parents of the multi-talented, multi-tasking Woods-Smith hopes to follow in the footsteps of her musical idols, Faith Hill and Martina McBride.
Woods-Smith imagines herself performing in a stadium full of 60 thousand screaming fans. Those fans are what she enjoys most about being on stage.
"I think it's the interaction with my audience; they are really sweet to me," Woods-Smith said. "I'm grateful for that."
It may not be long until she has a following of fans that rival Faith and Martina.
She's got the looks, she's got the voice, now she just needs the opportunity. What better than a spot on American Idol?
