Spring into fun in Gulf Breeze

Good food, good drink, good music, good art, good games, good contests – and terrific fireworks. It’s all coming to Gulf Breeze March 10 and 11 with the 24th annual Gulf Breeze Celebrates the Arts Festival and March 24 with a day-long Spring Fest and the 13th annual Gumbo Cook-Off.

Just in time to welcome spring and an increasing influx of visitors to the beautiful Gulf Coast, Gulf Breeze will be putting on a show sponsored by Gulf Breeze Art Inc. and the City of Gulf Breeze. The juried fine arts and crafts festival draws an array of quality national, regional and local artists to the community for a free two-day family event, year after year, and 2018 is no exception.

More than 100 regional and local fine artists and craftsmen, ranging across all mediums, will be involved and will be displaying and selling their work. Proceeds will be used both to support college students’ art scholarships and to make donations to local school art programs.

Live art demonstrations, including First City Art Center’s glass blowing truck, printmaking, live painting and more with Bare Hand Collective, as well as students and alumni from Pensacola State College and University of West Florida showcasing their artistic processes will be featured throughout the festival.

The parking lot of Gulf Breeze High School will also feature food and drink vendors, with parking available adjacent to the festival.

Student art displays and a variety of children’s activities will be going on in the GBHS art building. Inside the school band room, the Local Artist’s Show will be taking place, with entries in oils and acrylics, watercolor, graphics, sculpture, fiber and leather, glass, mixed media, photography, ceramics, jewelry, wood and “other” categories.

Entries will be judged based on artistic excellence, originality, execution of design, technique and craftsmanship, creative use of materials and aesthetic qualities.

The festival’s entertainment area, also located on the parking lot, will feature a variety of musical performances and other entertaining presentations both days.

Just two weeks later, it will be time to enjoy another community celebration.

Building on the success of the 2016 Fall Festival, the City of Gulf Breeze has changed the celebration season
